Concrete Walkways and Sidewalks in Countryside

Lifted panels and crumbling paths replaced with even, textured concrete that drains and stays put.

Trip Hazards Out, Safe Walks In

A raised sidewalk edge is one of the most common ways people get hurt at home. A grandparent catches a toe. A kid on a scooter goes over the lip. Delivery drivers stumble in the dark. Most failing walks share the same causes: thin concrete, loose fill underneath, too few joints and roots pushing up from below. Patching does not fix any of that. Replacement does. We cut out the bad sections and haul them away. We dig out the soft soil and deal with roots that caused the heave. Then we pack a stone base. Forms get a small side-to-side tilt so rain sheds into the grass. Most foot-traffic walks get about 4 inches of concrete. Paths where the mower or a wheelbarrow rolls get more. Control joints go in at regular spacing so any crack runs straight along the joint. The surface gets a broom finish for grip, which matters on wet and icy days. In Countryside many homes have a front walk plus a side path to the backyard or garage. Doing both at once means one disruption instead of two.

What Walk Replacement Covers

Every walk gets the same steps, from a short path to a long front run.

  • Bad panels cut out

Heaved, sunken or crumbling sections removed and hauled off.

  • Roots and fill handled

The cause of the heave is dealt with, not just covered up.

  • Stone base packed

Firm, even support from one end of the walk to the other.

  • Cross slope

Water runs off the side instead of pooling or freezing on top.

  • Correct depth

About 4 inches for walking, thicker where wheels will cross.

  • Broom finish

Texture that gives shoes something to grip in rain and snow.

  • Joints at set spacing

Tooled joints so cracks follow a straight line.

Out With the Old Walk

  1. Measure the route

We look at the walk, the trees nearby and the drainage. You get a written price.

  2. Remove and prep

Old concrete out, roots and soft soil dealt with, stone packed, forms set.

  3. Pour and finish

Concrete in, broom texture on, joints tooled. Kept covered while it cures. Soil raked back at the edges.
